Moving in Issaquah
Issaquah's Talus neighborhood climbs Cougar Mountain — real elevation change worth flagging when you book — while Providence Point is a 55-and-over community with its own single-story-friendly layout, and downtown Issaquah keeps a walkable historic core that's tighter for truck staging than the newer subdivisions.

Neighborhood by neighborhood
- Issaquah Highlands. A master-planned urban village of over 4,000 homes — condos, townhomes and detached houses — with shared drives and lift buildings, and a long climb up from I-90.
- Olde Town. The historic walkable core: older houses, tighter streets and less room to stage a truck than the newer parts of town.
- Talus and the mountain slopes. Homes built into the hillside, which usually means steps between the truck and the door and a driveway that is more of a ramp.
- Providence Point and the valley floor. Single-level living and standard driveway access — straightforward days, as long as the community has told you where to park.
Parking, permits and building access
Issaquah is the easiest of the Eastside cities on this front. The city code bans commercial vehicles from parking in residential areas but says outright that the ban does not apply to temporary parking for delivery, pick up, moving, or service activities — so the truck can be where it needs to be. Two limits still apply: nothing over 30 feet may sit on a residential street more than six hours, and no vehicle may be left on the street over 24 hours. Issaquah publishes no permit for a moving truck or a storage container; if you plan to leave a container in the street rather than on your driveway, call the permit centre first, because the code simply does not address it.

Questions we get about moving in Issaquah
- Can a moving truck park on the street in Issaquah?
- Yes. Issaquah's code exempts temporary parking for moving from its ban on commercial vehicles in residential areas. Vehicles over 30 feet still may not stay more than six hours, and nothing may be left overnight beyond 24 hours.
- Is a move in the Highlands different from the rest of Issaquah?
- Usually yes. The Highlands is a planned community of condos, townhomes and houses with shared driveways and lift buildings, so we agree a parking and elevator plan with you before the day instead of turning up and improvising.
- Do hills add to the cost?
- Only through time. A hillside home in Talus with steps up from the driveway takes longer to load than a flat one, and you pay for the hours the crew works — which is exactly why we ask about steps and the walk to the truck when we quote.

- 3-hour minimum, then 15-minute increments. The minimum charge covers up to the first 3 hours of work; after that you pay for the time the crew actually works, not rounded-up hours.
- $50 standard minimum fuel charge. Named up front, not added at the end. With a crew of 4 or more it's higher: the truck seats only 3, so the rest of the crew needs additional transportation.
- $50 deposit, fully refundable. Cancel or reschedule at least 72 hours ahead and you get it back; rescheduling between 72 and 24 hours ahead is free.
- Cash saves 5%, Zelle is free. Cards add a 3.5% processing fee, Venmo 2%.
- Anything specific to your job is explained before we start — stairs, a long carry from the truck, heavy or awkward items. No surprises once the work is done.
- A reply in 15 minutes, or $25 off. Reach out between 8 AM and 8 PM and we get back to you within 15 minutes — if we don't, $25 comes off your move.
Moving within one building — a different apartment, another floor — costs less, because there is no truck to load: see same-building moves.

Ask a questionDo you offer same-day residential moving?
Sometimes — it depends on what crew is free that day, and we will tell you within 15 minutes either way. See emergency and last-minute moving for how urgent jobs work, or call 425-495-7762.
How far in advance do I need to book residential moving?
A week or two is comfortable for most homes. The dates that go first are the last weekend of the month, the 30th and the 31st, and summer Saturdays — for those, three to four weeks ahead gives you a choice of start times. We take bookings up to three months out, and short notice is always worth asking about: you will know within 15 minutes whether a crew is free.
What should I do to prepare for the move?
- Clear out space: Go through your belongings and decide what you want to take with you, what to give away, or throw out. This will not only make your move easier but also simplify unpacking at your new place.
- Gather packing supplies: Get boxes, tape, bubble wrap, and markers ready ahead of time. Having boxes of various sizes will help you pack different items. You can often find boxes for free at local stores or through online platforms.
- Label your boxes: Clearly mark what's in each box and which room it belongs to. This will ease the movers' job and help you quickly find what you need after the move.
- Start packing early: Pack non-essential items well in advance, leaving essentials for last. Prepare an "essentials box" with items you’ll need immediately after the move.
- Notify important organizations: Update your address at the post office, banks, utility companies, and any subscription services to ensure you continue receiving your mail and services at your new location.
- Prepare appliances: If you're moving appliances, check the manufacturer's instructions for disconnecting and preparing them. Clean and defrost your refrigerator at least a day before the move.
- Take care of pets and plants: Ensure safe transport for your pets and plants. You might want to ask friends or relatives to look after them on moving day.
- Plan the moving day: Coordinate logistics with your movers, including timing, parking, and potential access issues at both your old and new locations.
How do you ensure careful handling of items?
Furniture is padded with moving blankets and shrink-wrapped before it goes near a doorway, drawers and doors are secured, and mattresses travel in covers. Floors and door frames are protected at both ends. Anything fragile should travel inside a box rather than loose — we sell the materials, or we can pack it for you. Tell us at booking about anything particularly valuable, awkward or heavy, so the right crew size and the right materials are on the truck.
Book our packing serviceAre there additional charges beyond the hourly rate?
Beyond the hourly rate there is a fuel charge: $50 for a crew of 2 or 3, more for a crew of 4 or more, since the truck seats only 3 and the rest of the crew needs additional transportation. The minimum charge covers up to the first 3 hours of work; after that, time is billed in 15-minute increments. The rates include up to 15 miles of travel, and anything weighing 250 lbs or more carries an additional heavy-item fee. Whatever else is specific to your job — stairs, a long carry, disassembly — is explained before we start, so there are no hidden charges.
Are packing materials included in the service price?
The protective gear the crew works with is included: moving blankets, shrink wrap, straps, floor and door protection. Supplies that stay with you are not — boxes, packing paper, bubble wrap and tape are sold separately, and we can bring them on the day so you are not driving around looking for boxes.
See packing service and materialsCan movers clean my home on moving day?
Yes. We book it through the cleaning crew we work with and schedule it for the moment the truck pulls away, so you hand the keys back without going back with a mop. Prices by home size are on our cleaning page — move-out cleaning starts at $430 for a one-bedroom.
Can the movers transport my pets?
Unfortunately, we don't provide pet transportation services. This is because safely transporting pets requires specialized conditions and experience. We recommend making arrangements in advance to ensure your furry friends are safe and comfortable during the move.
Is it possible to move during inclement weather?
Moving in bad weather is not recommended because the safety of everyone involved should be a top priority. If the weather conditions are extreme, like heavy rain, snow, or ice, it's better to postpone the move to ensure everyone's safety, including your family and the moving team. However, if moving in poor weather is unavoidable, it's important to be well-prepared. Make sure all pathways are clear and safe. Use protective coverings like tarps or plastic covers to keep your belongings dry. Also, keep in touch with the moving company, as professional movers can offer solutions for safely moving in challenging weather. Be prepared for possible delays in loading, unloading, and transportation due to bad weather. Plan your schedule with these delays in mind. Finally, check your moving insurance to ensure it includes coverage for weather-related damage, which will give you extra peace of mind during the move.
Can I reduce moving costs by getting help from family or friends?
Yes, and the part that actually moves the bill is packing: a home that is boxed, labelled and stacked ready to load takes far fewer hours than one the crew has to pack first. Getting rid of what is not coming before the day helps as much again. The carrying itself is better left to the crew — it is faster, and a dropped dresser costs more than the hour it saved. If you have your own truck and only want the muscle, that is labor only.
Can the movers dispose of trash on moving day?
Yes. Whatever is not coming with you can be loaded and taken away on the same visit, which costs less than booking a separate trip — and anything still usable goes to a donation site rather than to the dump. See junk removal for what we can and cannot take.
