Emergency moving
Need to move now? Or did your movers just cancel?
Both happen more often than people think, and both are fixable — but not by filling in a form and waiting. Call us and you will know within 15 minutes whether we have a crew for you.
We reply within 15 minutes or take $25 off · 8 AM – 8 PM daily
Who calls us for this
- The movers cancelled, or never turned up. The elevator is booked, the keys change hands tomorrow, and the truck is not coming.
- The date moved under you. A closing was brought forward, a lease ended sooner than planned, a landlord wants the keys.
- A job starts Monday in another city. Relocations rarely give you the notice you would like.
- Something happened at home. A family emergency, a flood, a sale that went through faster than expected.
- A deadline you cannot argue with. Storage closing, a unit re-let, a building that only allows moves on certain days.
What we can actually promise
Not that we can always come today — crews are booked ahead, and anyone who says yes before checking is guessing with your day. What we do promise is the part we control:
- An answer within 15 minutes, 8 AM to 8 PM, every day. Miss it and we take $25 off the move.
- A straight yes or no. If the earliest we can realistically do is tomorrow morning, you hear that now, while you still have time to call someone else.
- The price before we commit, not after the truck is loaded.
- A call about 30 minutes before the crew arrives, so you are not watching the street all morning.
- The same licensed, insured crew as any other day — a rush does not mean a scratch team. We are a licensed Washington mover and Thumbtack Top Pro for 2024 and 2025.
What an emergency move costs
Sometimes the same as any other day, sometimes more — and we tell you which on the call. If a crew has a gap, an urgent job is priced at our ordinary rates. If fitting you in means rearranging a day that somebody else booked weeks ago, starting earlier, finishing later or adding a mover to make it work at all, then it costs more, and we say so before you agree to anything.
What never changes: you get the number before the crew sets off, the fees are the same ones published on the rest of the site, and nothing is added at the end. Our ordinary rates and what they include are on the moving cost page — that is the starting point for an urgent day too.
A few things genuinely bring an urgent job down:
- Flexibility on the hour. An afternoon start is often easier to fit than a morning one.
- Tomorrow instead of today. Even a few hours of notice widens what we can do.
- Being packed. Boxes ready and furniture cleared means the crew loads instead of sorting.
- Your own truck. If you already have one, labor-only help is the cheaper half of the job.
Have this ready and we can answer in one call
- Both addresses, and when you need it done by
- Home size, and whether it is an apartment, condo or house
- Stairs, a lift, or a long walk from the truck at either end
- Whether you are packed, part packed, or nothing has been touched
- Anything heavy or awkward: appliances, a safe, a piano, items over 250 lbs
- If another company left you mid-move, what is already loaded
If another company cancelled on you
- Keep your building booking. The lift reservation and loading bay are worth more than the truck — they are the hard part to get back.
- Get it in writing. A text or email from the company that cancelled is worth having, whatever you decide to do about the deposit later.
- Photograph where things stand. Packed, half packed, already on a truck — it helps us size the crew, and it is useful to you either way.
- Call rather than write. Chat and the quote form both reach us, but on the day itself the phone is fastest.
